Town Vending Committee lying defunct for 3 months in Chandigarh

Sandeep RanaTribune News ServiceChandigarh June 22The Town Vending Committee (TVC) which was formed in 2016 to look into the matters related to the street vendors here has been lying defunct since March. As such the registered street vendors who had several issues to raise during the pandemic are feeling voiceless. Other than the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Superintendent of Police Chief Architect different officials NGO and RWA representatives and four street vendors were nominated to the panel. “There are several issues facing vendors including the vending zones and payment but no meeting of the TVC has been held in the past few months. The TVC should be formed again with 40 per cent vendor participation” said Ram Milan Gaur president of the Chandigarh Street Vendors Association.
