Preneet Kaur officially joins BJP

  • | Friday | 15th March, 2024

Congress under suspension MP from Patiala Preneet Kaur on Thursday officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking a significant shift in her political allegiance. Amidst speculations that Preneet will be the BJP candidate for Patiala, the former Union Minister maintained a cautious stance on contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, emphasizing that her decision would ultimately be guided by the directives of the party.   Preneet, a seasoned politician and four-time MP from Patiala, expressed her admiration for the Prime Minister Narendra Modis leadership and the accomplishments of his government over the past decade.   Her decision to switch parties came over a year after her husband, Punjabs former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and their daughter Jai Inder Kaur and son Raninder Singh, defected to the BJP — a move that led to her suspension from the Congress party the previous year.   Addressing a joint press conference alongside BJP leaders at the party headquarters, Preneet articulated her contentment in aligning with the BJP and extended her gratitude to the Prime Minister Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, and the entire BJP fraternity for the opportunity to collaborate with the party. She commended Modis governance and policies, expressing confidence in the security of the nation and the future of its youth under his leadership.   I am fully confident that our childrens future and our country will remain secure under his (Modis) leadership and policies, she said.
