BJP fields another Congressman Valmiki from Fgarh Sahib Chandigarh: In a strategic move ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in Punjab, BJP on Friday announced Gejja Ram Valmiki, a close aide of Punjabs former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, as its final candidate for the Sri Fatehgarh Sahib reserve seat. Valmiki, who currently serves as the chairman of Punjab Governments Safai Karamchari Commission, brings with him a wealth of administrative experience. Additionally, he holds the position of National President of the Central Valmiki Sabha India. The announcement adds another dimension to the BJPs candidate selection strategy, particularly noteworthy for its connection to the Congress. With Valmikis nomination, the BJPs slate now includes seven candidates with ties to the Congress out of the total 13 candidates in Punjab. Speculations were rife prior to the announcement, suggesting that the BJP was considering fielding Manohar Singh, the brother of former Chief Minister and Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi, from the Fatehgarh Sahib constituency. However, the partys decision to nominate Valmiki underscored its intent to strategically position candidates with significant political and administrative backgrounds to contest the upcoming elections. With the announcement of candidates for all 13 constituencies in Punjab, the stage is set for a fiercely contested electoral battle. Former MPs did not take care of Sri Anandpur Sahib, Give chance to Modi: Dr  Sharma Mohali: BJP candidate from Sri Anandpur Sahib Dr Subhash Sharma on Friday paid obeisance at various temples on Lord Parshuram Jayanti. During a meeting with the Brahmin community and other people, Dr Sharma cornered the Congress and SAD on the issue of lack of development in Sri Anandpur Sahib saying that the former MPs never paid attention towards development works due to which this Lok Sabha constituency is continuously lagging behind. Therefore, this time, I appeal to the people of Sri Anandpur Sahib to give an opportunity to PM Modi, he said, while assuring the people that they will not give any chance to complain. Cooperation from everyone is essential to ensure peaceful and orderly poll: Hry CEO Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal on Friday said that cooperation should be extended to all election officers to ensure peaceful and orderly voting. All political workers engaged in elections have to show their badges or identity cards given to them by their parties. The informal identity slip issued to the voters should be on plain (white) paper and on which there should be no mention of any name, party symbol or the name of the candidate on it, he added. The CEO further said that restrictions on plying of vehicles during the campaign period and on the poll day should be fully obeyed and any complaint or problem regarding the conduct of elections should be brought to the notice of the Election Commissions Observer, Returning Officer, Zonal or Sector Magistrate or Chief Electoral Officer/Election Commission of India. Agarwal said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has drawn up a list of Dos and Donts to be followed by political parties and contesting candidates till the completion of the process of General Election to Lok Sabha 2024 in Haryana. Agarwal said that political parties and candidates are advised to follow the guidelines and cooperate in conducting the elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner in the State.
