Get ready for a momentous day in Punjab politics On June 1, a staggering 5.38 lakh (5,38,715) first-time voters, aged 18-19, are all set to make their mark at the ballot box. Its not just an election; its a rite of passage, a milestone that signifies the enthusiastic entry of the youth into the heart of democracy.   Thats not all More than 1.89 lakh (1,89,855) voters aged above 85 years are also adding to the electoral fervour, while 1.58 lakh (1,58,718) Divyang voters are gearing up to exercise their democratic rights — showcasing the vibrant tapestry of demographics shaping Punjabs electoral scene.   The numbers were shared by the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C on Tuesday while unveiling the final list of total voters eligible to participate in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Punjab. A total of 2.14 crore (2,14,61,739) voters are deemed eligible to cast their votes in the elections scheduled for June 1, 2024.   Offering detailed insights, Sibin C disclosed that May 4 marked the deadline for registering new voters in Punjab, with the forms submitted by this date scheduled for review and decision by May 14. The released voter list enumerates a total of 2,14,61,739 voters in Punjab, comprising 1.12 crore (1,12,86,726) male; 1.01 (1,01,74,240) female, and 773 transgender voters.   To facilitate the voting process, a total of 24,451 polling stations will be established across the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, with 16,517 stations in villages and 7,934 in cities. Notably, Punjab boasts a 100 percent coverage of photo identity cards (EPIC).   Instructions have been issued to Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers to ensure the seamless operation of polling booths, prioritizing voter convenience. CEO Sibin C has urged the voters to actively participate in the electoral process, striving to achieve the overarching goal of Is Vaar 70 Paar (crossing the 70 percent voter turnout threshold).   Patiala has highest voters Enumerating the voter distribution across Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab, the CEO said that Patiala has the highest number of 18,06,424 voters, including 9,44,300 male, 8,62,044 female, and 80 transgender voters; while Fatehgarh Sahib has the lowest 15,52,567 voters, including 8,23,339 male, 7,29,196 female, and 32 transgender voters.   24451 polling states across Punjab The CEO Sibin C said that there will be a total of 24,451 polling stations for 13 Lok Sabha seats, with maximum 2082 in Patiala and lowest 1684 in Amritsar. Besides, 1895 polling stations have been set up in Gurdaspur constituency, 1974 in Khadoor Sahib, 1951 in Jalandhar, 1963 in Hoshiarpur, 2068 in Anandpur Sahib, 1843 in Ludhiana, 1821 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 1688 in Faridkot, 1903 in Ferozepur, 1814 in Bathinda, and 1765 in Sangrur.
