Kejriwal plays emotional card while campaigning

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday revealed that during his incarceration in Tihar jail, two CCTV cameras were positioned outside his barrack, with a surveillance team comprising 13 officers monitoring him round the clock. Even the footage was shared with the Prime Ministers Office (PMO), he said while addressing a significant meeting with party leaders and workers in Amritsar.   Accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal said: There were two CCTV cameras installed outside my barrack in the jail to monitor me. 13 jail officers kept an eye on me 24 hours a day, the footage of cameras was also shared with the PMO. These people kept an eye on my every activity, but they did not find anything. I have nothing to hide. Even in jail, I used to do my work and read books.   Sharing further, he said: From here, the Punjab Police and Chief Ministers Office used to write that the CM of Punjab is coming to meet the CM of Delhi, but they did not arrange a meeting with me in the room. I used to stand on one side of the jails bars and Bhagwant Mann on the other side and talk. They thought that by doing this they are insulting Kejriwal, but Kejriwal is not insulted by these small things. As long as Bharat Matas head is high, Kejriwals head is high.   Expressing his gratitude, Kejriwal said: I have come here this time to meet the people of Punjab and my workers. I used to miss you all a lot in jail. He lambasted the BJPs attempt to weaken AAP by his arrest, asserting that such efforts would only strengthen the partys resolve. Every worker of the Aam Aadmi Party is Kejriwal, he emphasized, highlighting the unity within the party.   Revealing the challenges he faced during his detention, Kejriwal mentioned the deliberate obstruction by jail authorities in facilitating meetings between him and Mann, despite provisions in the jail manual permitting such interactions. He narrated instances of health negligence, including the halt in his insulin supply, a crucial medication for his diabetes, which led to a spike in his sugar levels. However, he expressed gratitude for the Supreme Courts bail relief, vowing to utilize every moment to serve the nation.   There are still 10-12 days left for the election campaign. Work so hard in these 10-12 days that the party wins all 13 seats in Punjab. On June 4, the day of election results, I will be in jail but I will watch the election results on TV. I am fully confident that you will not disappoint me, he added.   Mann echoed Kejriwals sentiments, lauding his resilience and denouncing BJPs tactics. He commended AAP workers for their dedication, attributing the partys prominence in the election campaign nationwide to their efforts. Mann predicted BJPs defeat in the ongoing election phases, asserting that the "ship is sinking" for the ruling party.   In conclusion, Mann rallied the workers, urging them to redouble their efforts in the remaining campaign period. He underscored the significance of their role in safeguarding democracy and the constitution, pledging to script history with Punjabs unwavering support.
