Priyanka Gandhi conducts roadshow; Says inflation & unemployment are at their peak under BJP rule

  • | Friday | 24th May, 2024

On the last day of the Poll campaign in Haryana, senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday led a roadshow in Sirsa Lok Sabha Constituency to garner support for party nominee Kumari Selja for the May 25 Lok Sabha poll. Standing in an open vehicle along with Selja and former Haryana minister Kiran Choudhary, Priyanka waved towards people during her roadshow, which lasted for about an hour. It was her first such election outing in Haryana. Holding party flags, Congress workers raised slogans Congress party zindabad and showered flower petals on her. The roadshow began from Shri Shyam Bagichi Grain Market and passed through Janata Bhawan, Jagdev Singh Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Parshuram Chowk, and ended at Ambedkar Chowk. The roads of Sirsa city were jam-packed due to the massive crowd. Despite the intense heat, the pace of the roadshow was slow, and the enthusiastic crowd could not move forward, so the roadshow had to be concluded at Ambedkar Chowk instead of continuing to Sangwan Chowk as planned due to heatwave warnings and concerns for public health. Talking to reporters after the roadshow, Gandhi said that there is a wave against the BJP in Haryana. There is an undercurrent throughout the country. People are tired of their (Modi-BJP) politics. They play power politics and can do anything for power. This is a politics that disregards the public. The country is suffering from high unemployment and inflation, and people are exhausted. There will certainly be change in the country. Priyanka Gandhi said that change is certain in Haryana too, and the Congress will win with a substantial majority in all seats in the state. She said that the inflation & unemployment are at their peak under BJP rule.     Selja, a prominent Dalit face of the Congress in Haryana, is pitted against BJPs Ashok Tanwar.  Like Selja, Tanwar has also been the president of the Haryana Congress when he was in the party.
