CM Saini approves allotment of 976 Khel Nurseries in Haryana

To promote sports activities, the Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday approved the allotment of 976 Khel Nurseries across the State in government and private schools/institutions for the financial year 2024-25 under the Khel Nursery Scheme. Previously, the state government allotted 1,100 Khel Nurseries each year. This number has been increased to 1,500 from FY 2024-25, with about 500 of these nurseries being managed by government coaches on government infrastructure. An official spokesperson stated that applications are invited annually from interested government and private schools/institutions, with the essential requirement being the availability of a coach, adequate playground facilities, and the ability to accommodate up to 25 players who will receive scholarships. The selection process involves District Sports Officers conducting physical inspections of the applicants premises. He said that scholarships under this scheme are awarded at the rate of Rs. 1,500 per month for players aged 8 to 14 years and Rs. 2,000 per month for players aged 15 to 19 years. Additionally, coaches of these Khel Nurseries receive an honorarium of up to Rs. 25,000 per month. With the Chief Ministers approval, allotment messages have been sent to all successful applicants of the 976 Khel Nurseries for FY 2024-25. The distribution of the 976 nurseries is as follows: 196 in government schools, 115 to Gram Panchayats, 278 in private institutions, and 387 in private schools. These nurseries cover 28 different sports disciplines and are spread across all districts of the state. He further informed that the distribution of Khel Nurseries for various sports disciplines is as follows: 14 nurseries have been allotted for archery, 93 for athletics, 15 for badminton, 6 for baseball, 47 for basketball, 65 for boxing, 3 for canoeing, 5 for cycling, 12 for fencing, 70 for football, 7 for gymnastics, 74 for handball, 44 for hockey, 18 for judo, 138 for kabaddi, 7 for karate, 3 for lawn tennis, 11 for netball, 2 for rowing, 33 for shooting, 3 for softball, 12 for swimming, 11 for table tennis, 15 for taekwondo, 95 for volleyball, 6 for weightlifting, 149 for wrestling, and 18 for wushu. CM to lay foundation stone of various projects in Hisar on June 20 Haryana Civil Aviation Minister Kamal Gupta on Wednesday said on June 20, State Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will inaugurate various civil works of phase-2 of the Hisar Airport. Chairing a review meeting with officers of the Civil Aviation Department, Air Force Ambala, and the Airport Authority of India regarding the establishment of the Hisar Airport and Civil Enclave Ambala, Gupta directed the officers to expedite the work in collaboration with the Ambala Air Force and the Airport Authority of India regarding the Civil Enclave being established in Ambala. It was informed in the meeting that the projects related to the Hisar Airport that have been completed include the office of the Chairman of Haryana Airport Development Corporation (HADC) being set up in the ATC Tower building. He mentioned that the work on the runway, CAT I, ATC, GSC area, PTT, link taxi, apron, fuel room, basic perimeter road, and rainwater drains at Maharaja Agrasen Airport is almost complete.
