Punjab CMs Surprise Visit to Rajpura Tehsil: Promises Better Services

  • | Tuesday | 6th August, 2024

The typically quiet Rajpura Tehsil in Patiala district was abuzz with activity on Monday when Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made an unexpected visit to the Tehsil complex. The surprise inspection, according to Mann, was aimed at ensuring efficient and transparent delivery of citizen-centric services, marking a significant step in his commitment to foster a responsive and accountable government.   During his one-hour visit, the Chief Minister interacted extensively with the Tehsil staff, officers, and the general public present for various administrative tasks. Mann emphasized that his visit was not a raid but a constructive effort to understand and improve the functioning of the Tehsil.   Im here to see how we can make things better, not to point fingers. Its about enhancing our service delivery, he said.   The Chief Minister observed the registration process, interacted with citizens, and held a meeting with Tehsil staff. He noted that while some improvements had been made, there were still areas that required attention. Im pleased to see progress, but theres always room for improvement. We aim to make registries possible within 30 minutes, Mann asserted, underscoring his commitment to efficiency.   At the same time, Mann urged all government employees to perform their duties with honesty and dedication. He highlighted the importance of regular, unannounced visits to various government offices, including hospitals and schools, to ensure accountability and prompt service delivery. I can visit any government office at any time. Any dereliction of duty will be met with strict action, he warned.   The surprise visit also provided an opportunity for the public to share their experiences directly with the Chief Minister. Many citizens expressed their appreciation for the governments efforts to streamline operations and reduce bureaucratic delays. This kind of direct engagement is crucial for understanding the ground realities and making informed decisions, Mann said.   One of the significant announcements made during the visit was the governments plan to eliminate the No Objection Certificate (NOC) requirement for land and property registration. Mann explained that this move would protect citizens from fraudulent activities by illegal colonizers and simplify the registration process. We are committed to safeguarding the interests of the common man and ensuring they do not have to run from pillar to post for basic services, he stated.   Mann also reaffirmed his governments zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. He acknowledged that while corruption has decreased, it has not been entirely eradicated. Corruption that has been entrenched for 75 years will take time to eliminate, but we are making significant strides. Vigilance is constantly at work to catch corrupt officials, he declared.   The Chief Minister highlighted the Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar (Government at Your Doorstep) initiative, aimed at delivering services directly to citizens. This flagship program is designed to ensure that administrative tasks are handled efficiently and transparently. As part of this initiative, Mann inspected government offices to assess their performance at the grassroots level.   The State Government is also setting up CM Window or Help Centers at district levels, where administrative officials will assist in resolving public issues promptly. District-level issues will be resolved on the spot, while other matters will be forwarded to the relevant departments for necessary action, Mann explained.   The Chief Minister said that the state government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption and no stone is being left unturned to weed out this menace. The State Government is committed to providing clean, effective and corruption-free administration to the people of the state. For the first time in the state after independence, a crusade has been launched against corruption, he said.
