Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to 25 newly recruited Block Development and Panchayat Officers (BDPOs) here in Chandigarh. Addressing the newly appointed officers, the Chief Minister congratulated them on their achievement and reminded them of the significant role they will play in shaping the future of rural Haryana. Each one of you has been selected purely on the basis of merit. This is the new work culture of Haryana as the present government has ended the kharchi-parchi system and ensured that only deserving and qualified candidates enter government service, he added. As frontline officers in rural administration, your duty is not just administrative but transformational. You must work towards building robust rural infrastructure, strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions, and implementing welfare schemes effectively. Your efforts must align with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.  The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the newly appointed BDPOs will uphold the trust placed in them and work diligently to further accelerate the visible and impactful development in Rural Haryana. We are not just appointing officers today; we are empowering our villages with fresh energy and accountable leadership, he remarked.  The appointment of these officers will address the shortage of BDPOs in the department. The recruitment process was conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC). 113 candidates were selected for various positions, including 34 for the post of BDPO in the Development and Panchayats Department. The appointment process, however, was delayed due to a civil writ petition filed in court. The State Government, committed to justice and procedural integrity, actively pursued the case in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. After nearly 11 months of legal proceedings, the matter was resolved, enabling the final appointments to move forward. Announces reservation for DSC and OSC in Group D recruitment In another programme, Saini said that the recruitment process for 7,596 Group-D posts will be done through the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC), and the initiative will not only boost employment but also ensure social inclusion and fairness. Candidates will be selected based on their Common Eligibility Test (CET) scores. This ensures a transparent and merit-based selection process, he added. Saini said that for the first time in Haryanas history, 605 posts have been reserved for Deprived Scheduled Castes (DSC) and 604 posts for Other Scheduled Castes (OSC) in Group-D recruitment. In addition, reservations have also been provided for categories like BCA, BCB, EWS, PH, ESP, and ESM. This is a historic move to bridge intra-category disparities and ensure equitable distribution of reservation benefits. This recruitment process will not only provide employment opportunities but also reinforce social justice. He said that the Government is committed to ensuring complete transparency and fairness in this recruitment process. The use of technology will simplify and streamline the application and selection process, making it more efficient. This initiative will not only open new avenues of employment for the youth but also further strengthen the governments commitment to social inclusion and equality, Saini added.
