Ceasefire Announced Without Consulting Armed Forces, Alleges HP CM Sukhu

  • | Saturday | 31st May, 2025

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday expressed strong concerns over the recent ceasefire declaration by the Union Government, claiming that it was announced without consulting the Indian armed forces.   Sukhu, speaking at the Jai Hind Sabha held in Shimla, paid glowing tributes to the brave soldiers of Himachal Pradesh and the country, while also questioning the Centres approach to national security. Today is a day to salute our martyrs, who laid down their lives for the country, said Sukhu.   Recalling his recent visit to Sharchi village in Tirthan Valley, he shared an emotional account of his stay with ex-Subedar Major Anoop Ram, a 1971 war veteran. Sukhu said that Anoop Ram recounted how the rousing speech of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had ignited patriotic fervour and morale within the Indian Army, leading to a historic victory that split Pakistan into two.   Referring to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Sukhu said: Our brave soldiers gave a befitting reply. But the Centres unilateral ceasefire, announced through social media by a third country, bypassed military leadership — this is deeply concerning. He contrasted this with Indira Gandhis decisive leadership, asserting, She never compromised on national security.   The Chief Minister emphasized that Himachal Pradesh has a proud tradition of valour, with four Param Vir Chakra awardees from the state. Our soldiers have never hesitated to make the ultimate sacrifice, he added.   Highlighting the Congress partys commitment to national unity, Sukhu said: Leaders like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi laid down their lives for Indias integrity. From Punjab to Chhattisgarh, Congress leaders have made countless sacrifices for the nation.   Punjab VB arrests CA for Accepting Rs 10L Bribe on Behalf of CGST Officer Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Friday arrested a Chartered Accountant (CA) Gursewak Singh from Jalandhar red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh.
