  • | Wednesday | 18th June, 2025

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday inaugurated the countrys largest automobile Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Manesar, Gurugram.    With this, Haryana has achieved a milestone in the field of logistics and industrial infrastructure. Located at the IMT Manesar-based Maruti Suzuki plant, this terminal has been developed under Prime Minister Narendra Modis Gati Shakti National Master Plan aimed at creating a world-class logistics network across India. The total cost of this project is Rs 1 lakh 17 thousand 91 million. Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited has a 55.4 percent share, HSIIDC has a 19 percent share and Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority has a 5 percent share in the project. Addressing the gathering, Saini said that the launch of Indias largest such terminal marks the beginning of a golden chapter in Haryanas growth story. He emphasized that this is not merely a steel structure but a milestone in realizing Prime Minister Modis vision of  Viksit Bharat. The terminal will not only transport vehicles manufactured at the Manesar and Gurugram plants to 17 hubs and 380 cities across India, but also export vehicles to ports such as Pipavav and Mundra — thereby directly integrating Haryana into the global supply chain, said the Chief Minister. He expressed pride that the Haryana Government is a key partner in bringing this historic project to life. Saini highlighted that today Haryana has become one of Indias leading automobile manufacturing hubs, producing nearly 50 percent of all cars made in the country. The development of an internal railway yard by the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation at Maruti underscores the states commitment to Ease of Doing Business and infrastructure development, he said. Reaffirming its vision to emerge as a logistics hub, the state has also partnered with various industry bodies and educational institutions to enhance workforce skills across Haryana, said CM Saini. He further shared that the PM Gati Shakti platform brings together key sectors such as railways, roads, ports, airports, waterways, and logistics under one integrated vision. The railway siding at Maruti Suzuki is a living example of this, allowing cars manufactured at the plant to be directly loaded onto cargo trains and shipped to destinations across India, he added.  In his address, Vaishnaw said that a major decision was taken recently to upgrade passenger train services. 100 new Mainline EMU (MEMU) trains will soon be introduced. These new MEMU trains, designed for short-distance travel, will feature 16 to 20 coaches (compared to the older 8-12 coach trains). Additionally, 50 new Namo Bharat passenger trains will also be added to the rail network, he added.
