BJP Accuses AAP of Luring Voters with Gifts Ahead of Ludhiana West Bypoll

  • | Wednesday | 18th June, 2025

Punjab BJP on Tuesday levelled serious allegations against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing it of distributing gifts and inducements to sway voters ahead of the Ludhiana West by-election scheduled for June 19. In a post on its official X handle (BJP4Punjab), the BJP claimed that AAP is attempting to win votes not on the basis of performance, but by offering lures and gifts. The party alleged that bags, sarees, suit fabrics, and detergent packets bearing the photo of AAP candidate and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora are being openly distributed among voters. As polling day nears, AAP is resorting to illegal methods to influence voters with gifts and money. Large-scale distribution of material and monetary inducements is being carried out under the watch of the state administration and police, the BJP Punjab post of X (formerly Twitter) read. It further alleged that government officials are functioning like AAP campaign agents, silencing dissenting voices through intimidation and illegal detention. The BJP has urged the Chief Election Commissioner to take strict action against AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora to ensure free and fair polling in the Ludhiana West constituency. The party demanded a transparent election process without fear or coercion.
