Doctor Caught on Camera Snorting Drugs, Assaulting Woman in Punjab; Health Minister Orders Probe

  • | Friday | 20th June, 2025

A shocking video of a doctor allegedly consuming drugs and assaulting a woman has surfaced from Punjab, triggering outrage and prompting swift action from the state government. Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Thursday ordered a high-level investigation into the incident, assuring the public that strict action would follow once the facts are fully verified.   The viral video, reportedly from Jalandhars Dakoha area, shows a man identified as Dr Puneet Singh — who is associated with a private hospital in the city — engaging in substance abuse. In the footage, Dr Puneet is seen crushing a white powder with an ATM card and then snorting it, apparently while under the influence. A woman present with him is believed to have secretly recorded the video. When the doctor realizes he is being filmed, he demands that the woman stop. Upon her refusal, he allegedly snatches her mobile phone and ends the recording.   Initially believed to have originated from Dasuya in Hoshiarpur, the videos location was later confirmed by Punjab Police to be from Dakoha, Jalandhar. DSP Balwinder Singh clarified, The video is not from our area. It has been verified to be from Jalandhars jurisdiction.   Whats more disturbing is a second CCTV footage that emerged soon after, showing the same doctor allegedly slapping a woman in what appears to be a public setting. This incident has intensified concerns over the doctors conduct and raised serious questions about his professional ethics and mental state.   Taking strong note of the developments, Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh stated, This is a matter of grave concern. Doctors are entrusted with the responsibility of saving lives and setting an example for society. Such behavior is not only unacceptable but deeply damaging to the dignity of the medical profession.   He added that an in-depth probe has been initiated, and senior officials have been directed to look into every aspect of the incident. We will not tolerate such conduct. Once the investigation is complete, strict action will be taken under the law, he assured.
