NIA Raids 9 Locations in Punjab in Ongoing Terror Conspiracy Probe

  • | Friday | 27th June, 2025

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted coordinated raids at multiple locations across Punjab, including Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur, as part of an ongoing investigation into a larger terror conspiracy case aimed at reviving militancy in the state.   According to the officials, searches were carried out at six to seven locations in Punjab — part of a broader operation involving 18 raids across Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. The action is linked to a suspected terror module allegedly connected to pro-Khalistani networks and gangsters with foreign links, who are believed to be orchestrating targeted killings, extortion, and arms smuggling to destabilize the state.   In Jalandhar, the NIA team, assisted by local police, reached the posh Friends Colony area around 7 am and interrogated a tenant staying in a rented house. The homeowner is currently abroad. During the operation, officials seized documents and digital devices. The suspects mobile phone data is also being analyzed, and investigators are trying to determine his local contacts. Access to the premises was strictly restricted, and police were deployed at the site throughout the day.   Another major raid was conducted in Hoshiarpur districts Udamud village. Beginning around 5 am, the NIA teams searched two houses for several hours. According to sources, one of the houses belongs to a man currently living overseas who has been declared a proclaimed offender (PO) in cases registered under the Excise Act and NDPS Act at Tanda police station. The second house, also under scrutiny, is reportedly linked to another individual suspected of being involved in anti-national activities. In both cases, the NIA recovered digital evidence and scrutinized various documents.   Though the agency has not issued an official statement detailing the purpose of the searches, sources indicated that the raids are part of the broader investigation into the activities of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operatives. The NIA recently chargesheeted Jatinder Singh alias Joti from Gurdaspur, an aide of Lakhbir Singh alias Landa and gangster Pavittar Batala. He was accused of illegally procuring and supplying firearms from Madhya Pradesh to operatives in Punjab. The network used encrypted apps and virtual numbers to evade law enforcement.
