Will Consider Positive aspects unanimously during SYL meeting on July 9: Hry CM

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said that an important meeting regarding the SYL (Sutlej-Yamuna Link) issue will be held in New Delhi on July 9. Positive aspects will be considered unanimously in the meeting, and since Haryana shares a brotherly bond with Punjab, we hope a solution will emerge through communication, he said, while talking interacting with the journalists at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi after paying floral tribute to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 125th birth anniversary.   It should be mentioned here that on July 4, the Centre has announced to hold talks between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his Haryana counterpart Nayab Singh Saini over the long-pending SYL Canal issue. The meeting will take place in Delhi on July 9 which will be chaired by Union Minister CR Patil. The meeting marked the fourth round of talks between both the Chief Ministers on the SYL issue while the Centre will continue to act as mediator.   The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the matter on August 13. In the meantime, the Union Ministry of Water Resources, as per the Apex Courts directions, is working to facilitate a consensus between the two states. A progress report on these discussions will be submitted by the Centre during the upcoming hearing.   Earlier, the meeting was to be held on July 8, but the Punjab Government had requested to fix it on another day. The Centre has now scheduled the meeting for July 9.   The last three meetings between the two states have remained inconclusive. On the directions of the Supreme Court, the first meeting between the CMs of Punjab and Haryana was held on August 18, 2020: while the second was held in Chandigarh on October 14, 2022. The third meeting was held in Delhi on January 4, 2023, under the leadership of then Union Water Resources Minister Gajendra Shekhawat.   Govt committed to public service and working with full dedication The Chief Minister said that the BJP-led State Government is committed to public service and is working with full dedication, following in the footsteps of Dr Mookerjee.   He also planted a sapling under the Prime Ministers initiative Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign at Haryana Bhawan and also encouraged people to plant trees in the name of great personalities to help protect the environment.   Saini said that Dr Mookerjee, a strong nationalist, founder of Jana Sangh, and a freedom fighter, always worked in the interest of the nation. He said that we must follow the path shown by him and contribute to building a developed India. Dr Mookerjee always prioritized service to society and worked for the welfare of the underprivileged, which is why he is remembered as a true well-wisher of the poor, he added.   The Chief Minister said that he has requested the Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to help establish a Disneyland amusement park in the NCR region. A 500-acre land has already been identified for the project, which is expected to become a major tourist attraction, he added.
