City air quality worsens, again

As per the lab report of the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee, the air quality index (AQI) of the city was ‘very poor’ on Tuesday. In Sector 17, the quality of air was no different with the AQI recorded at 303. The Unchahar Express (14217), which was supposed to arrive at the Chandigarh railway station at 9.30am reached late by eight hours. Trains’ late-run continuesLong-route trains continued to run late while Shatabdi Express chugged in as per its schedule.

Chandigarh, November 22 After remaining at moderate level for couple of days, the air quality once again worsened in the city. As per the lab report of the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee, the air quality index (AQI) of the city was ‘very poor’ on Tuesday. At Industrial Area, the AQI was 325, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category. It causes respiratory illness to people on prolonged exposure. The AQI remained very poor (307) at Kaimbwala village as well. In Sector 17, the quality of air was no different with the AQI recorded at 303. The Sector 39 area recorded 345 AQI, which is categorised as ‘very poor’. Trains’ late-run continues Long-route trains continued to run late while Shatabdi Express chugged in as per its schedule. The Unchahar Express (14217), which was supposed to arrive at the Chandigarh railway station at 9.30am reached late by eight hours. The Howra–Kalka Mail (12311) was scheduled to arrive at 3.20 am but it got delayed by over three hours and chugged in at 6.30 am. Station Superintendent TP Singh said while short-distance trains were running on time, efforts were on to put the timing of long-distance trains in order.
