Dry weather spell to continue

The comfortable weather Chennai has been enjoying may not last long as winter is drawing to a close over the State. On Thursday, weather stations in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded close to normal maximum temperatures of 31.1 and 32.3 degree Celsius. After isolated showers in a few places across Tamil Nadu, dry weather returned largely over the region. It experienced the coolest night for the month on February 1 with the minimum temperature dipping to 17.2 degree Celsius. Weather bloggers, including K.Srikanth, noted that though the chances of the night temperature dipping to 17 or 18 degree Celsius are less, places like Chennai may experience 20 or 22 degree Celsius due to clear skies.

After isolated showers in a few places across Tamil Nadu, dry weather returned largely over the region. S.B.Thampi, Deputy Director General of Meteorology, Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, said as that the cool and moist easterlies become weak, temperature levels both during the day and night may gradually increase. Nights may become less cool this month. Normally, places like Chennai do not experience much rainfall in February. The city’s average monthly rainfall in February is only 3.4 mm. It experienced the coolest night for the month on February 1 with the minimum temperature dipping to 17.2 degree Celsius. Weather bloggers, including K.Srikanth, noted that though the chances of the night temperature dipping to 17 or 18 degree Celsius are less, places like Chennai may experience 20 or 22 degree Celsius due to clear skies.
