The Chennai Corporation has started a study on identifying land parcels to facilitate development of civic infrastructure in all zones. According to officials at the ward level, each of the 200 wards is likely to have at least ten land parcels that may be suitable for civic infrastructure development once the missing land records are traced. But the civic body could not trace the land records so far. Officials alleged that many cases of land grabbing of corporation lands were reported in the past few years. The land will also be used for pan-city projects under Smart City Mission and for implementing capital work relating to parking management.
