Tamil Nadu medical admissions 2018: Students rush to submit applications on last day

As many as 45,336 Tamil Nadu students cleared NEET 2018 conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education on May 6. This year, 12 of the 16 self-financing colleges will take part in the counselling, offering 783 seats to the state quota. CHENNAI: Parents and students were rushing to the Directorate of Medical Education to submit the filled in application forms for MBBS and BDS admission in government and self-financing colleges in Tamil Nadu . Of 38,321 applications sold, the selection committee received 36,304 applications till Tuesday afternoon, he said.The state has 2,900 seats in 22 government colleges, including ESIC College in Singanallur. There will be 2,445 seats in the state quota.

The deadline to submit application forms is at 5pm on Tuesday.Though 13,000 more students from the state cleared NEET 2018 compared to last year, the number of applications sold this year is 10,000 less than last year. As many as 45,336 Tamil Nadu students cleared NEET 2018 conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education on May 6. Around 1.2 lakh students had appeared for the test.''Many students are aware of when and how they can apply for the course, '' said selection committee secretary Dr Selvarajan. Of 38,321 applications sold, the selection committee received 36,304 applications till Tuesday afternoon, he said.The state has 2,900 seats in 22 government colleges, including ESIC College in Singanallur. The state has surrendered 15% of the seats in each of the colleges to the Centre for admission under the All India Quota. There will be 2,445 seats in the state quota. This year, 12 of the 16 self-financing colleges will take part in the counselling, offering 783 seats to the state quota.
