TRICHY: The Thirumayam police in Tamil Nadu on Sunday registered a case against BJP national secretary H Raja and four others for not following the Madras high court order and allegedly using derogatory words against the court and the police department.The police booked him under sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 294 (b) (sings, recites or utters any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 505 (1) (b) (c) (statements conducing to public mischief), 506 (1) (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 290 (punishment for public nuisance) of the Indian Penal Code.The police said they were yet to take a decision on arresting Raja and others.Raja and his supporters on Saturday defied norms and took out a Vinayagar procession at Meyyapuram in Pudukkottai district despite the police warning them against it.He engaged in a verbal spat with the police for not allowing them to erect a stage in front of a village temple.Raja accused inspector Manohanran of the Thirumayam police station of working as a henchman of people believing in a particular religion.Raja allegedly said he was ready to give the police more money as bribe than what they had allegedly taken from the people from that religion.He asked the police if they were not ashamed of wearing the uniform after the CBI had conducted raid in the house of the director general of police in connection with the gutka scam.Inspector Manoharan said he had refused permission to erect the stage because they wanted to erect it on a disputed property.“Majority of the villagers belong to a particular religion.
