CHENNAI: Several employee associations of the Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR&CE) department on Wednesday presented a petition to Chennai police commissioner A K Viswanathan urging him to register a case against BJP national secretary H Raja for allegedly calling them Maoists and anti-nationalists.Speaking at a public meeting at Vedachandur in Dindigul recently, Raja allegedly denigrated the HR &CE employees "We are daily dealing with the public at several temples. We are responsible to keep the temples clean and save the statues and other properties. But in recent times, we have been accused of corruption. One of our officials has been arrested," said the petition said."We want to work independently without any interference. We are already under stress due to the actions taken against our officials. We are dealing with those issues through court. We don't want any other person to accuse us," it said.
