Fire in passenger shuttle bus at Chennai airport

CHENNAI: A shuttle bus bringing passengers from a Kolkata-Chennai Indigo flight caught fire as it neared the domestic terminal building at Chennai airport on Thursday. Passengers alerted the driver who used a handheld extinguisher. The passengers walked to the terminal.” A pilot of another airline also spotted the fire and alerted the air traffic control . It was a mild fire and was brought under control within a few minutes. The airport's fire and rescue service vehicle also reached by that time.

CHENNAI: A shuttle bus bringing passengers from a Kolkata-Chennai Indigo flight caught fire as it neared the domestic terminal building at Chennai airport on Thursday. No one was injured in the accident that took place at 8.15pm.An airport official said passengers were disembarked and the fire which started in the rear engine of the bus was extinguished.“The bus was taking a turn near a parking bay to reach the domestic terminal's gate when the fire started. Passengers alerted the driver who used a handheld extinguisher. The airport's fire and rescue service vehicle also reached by that time. The passengers walked to the terminal.” A pilot of another airline also spotted the fire and alerted the air traffic control . It was a mild fire and was brought under control within a few minutes.
