Chettinad scion loses Tamil Isai Sangam plea

MADURAI: Observing that industrialist and Chettinad Group scion M A M R Muthiah resorted to illegal means to take possession of the Tamil Isai Sangam in Madurai from its manager A S Palaniappan who was residing in it, the Madurai bench of the Madras high court on Tuesday upheld an order by the revenue divisional officer (RDO) directing Muthiah to hand over possession of the property to Palaniappan.Muthiah moved the high court bench against the August 24, 2018 order of the RDO, exercising his powers as executive magistrate to hand over possession of the property to the manager who had been in physical possession of the property until May 28, 2017 and to the Rani Meyyammai Chettinadu Trust.Both the parties had filed complaints of criminal intimidation and trespassing against each other before the Tallakulam police and the inspector had submitted a report to the executive magistrate, expressing concern about breach of peace in view of the rival claims over possession of the property.
