Stalin calls on Sonia Gandhi on her birthday

CHENNAI: DMK president MK Stalin called on former Congress party president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Sunday to wish the latter on her birthday. Congress party president Rahul Gandhi was also present on the occasion.“Shri Stalin & senior members of the DMK, visited Sonia Ji in Delhi today, to wish her on her birthday. “Sonia Gandhi has been instrumental in bringing together the secular forces across the country and has the might to put the divisive forces in their place. Stalin also invited her to unveil the statue of former DMK president M Karunanidhi on December 16 in Chennai.Stalin was accompanied by senior DMK party members including DMK Rajya Sabha MPs Kanimozhi and RS Bharathy, besides party principle secretary TR Baalu and propaganda secretary A Raja. Stalin wished her a long life to continue to serve for the growth and development of this country,” the statement said.Stalin also utilised the occasion to discuss about Karnataka’s plan to construct the Mekedatu reservoir over Cauvery with Sonia and Rahul, the DMK statement added.
