Idol theft: Conditional bail to HR&CE official

Thirumagal was the executive officer of the Kapaleeshwarar temple when renovation work took place. In his complaint, Narasimhan stated that a peacock idol at the Kapaleeshwarar temple was replaced by another one and several other idols were either stolen or replaced at the time of renovation work carried out in 2004. Thirumagal’s counsel Kuppusamy filed a petition seeking bail for her.The magistrate granted conditional bail to Thirumagal and ordered her to sign in the idol wing office in Trichy at 10am every day.Based on a complaint filed by Rangarajan Narasimhan of Srirangam, the idol wing police headed by IG AG Ponmanickavel registered a case a few months ago. The magistrate sent her in judicial custody and asked the police to produce her before court on Monday.As per the order, she was produced before the magistrate on Monday.
