CHENNAI: Expressing displeasure over the way the director of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption acted on the complaint made by a woman superintendent of police alleging sexual harassment against IGP S Murugan, the Madras high court on Wednesday said that authorities should show some sensitivity towards such issues at least in future. "It is not that the director did not act at all, but his actions were not up to the mark, and not as expected by law," Justice S M Subramaniam said. The judge said that the court would take judicial notice of the fact that the case is not a rare one, but many such instances, which are not reported due to various reasons, exist.Noting that such a complaint from a high-rank woman officer must have been treated as the rarest of rare cases, the judge said that the state should ensure that proper action must be taken without further delay. To this, advocate-general Vijay Narayan submitted that the delay caused so far was due to various circumstances, including forwarding the complaint to a wrong committee. The judge said that he will pass final orders regarding the submission on Thursday.
