Lawyer rips SI's uniform, attacks DMK man, booked

"When Desinguraja questioned Gnanam about assaulting Vaseegaran, Gnanam attacked him and ripped his uniform. Vaseegaran had hired lawyer Ilango to help him collect the documents. Since Ilango was busy, he informed Vaseegaran to coordinate with Gnanam who would appear on his behalf.In his complaint Vaseegaran said Gnanam didn't respond properly when he appraoched, which lead to an argument between the two. Vaseegaran and Desinguraja were treated at a government hospital for injuries. He later staged a mutual compromise in front of the chief metropolitan magistrate Malarvizhi," an officer said quoting the SSI's complaint.

CHENNAI: Police have booked a lawyer practising in Egmore metropolitan magistrate court in two cases, one for assaulting a village panchayat president affiliated to the DMK and another for abusing and a sub-inspector of police in the court premises.Police said the booked lawyer, Gnanam, has had cases registered against him by the ICF police previously.The action was based on a complaint by K Vaseegaran, 42, of Mangadu , who is the panchayat president of Gerugambakkam village.Vaseegaran said he visited the Egmore court to collect land documents he had submitted to bail out a person named Mahesh, arrested in a cheating case, a month ago. Vaseegaran had hired lawyer Ilango to help him collect the documents. Since Ilango was busy, he informed Vaseegaran to coordinate with Gnanam who would appear on his behalf.In his complaint Vaseegaran said Gnanam didn't respond properly when he appraoched, which lead to an argument between the two. "Gnanam assaulted Vaseegaran after this in the court premises. Vaseegaran informed an armed reserve police constable posted there, who directed him to special sub-inspector P Desinguraja attached to the Egmore police station," a police officer said."When Desinguraja questioned Gnanam about assaulting Vaseegaran, Gnanam attacked him and ripped his uniform.
