More water for Pallavaram now from quarries

There are three quarries at Tirusulam which can supply five MLD of water for 100 days if drawn daily by both agencies. Also as Pallavaram Municipality does not have a water treatment plant as of now, Metro Water has decided to make use of their modular treatment plant to treat the quarry water. The four MLD treatment plant at Porur can be easily dismantled and set-up near the quarry to treat the water,” said a senior Metro Water official. Water taken by Metro Water will be supplied to Nehru Nagar near Nanganallur which has about 15,000 residents who get erratic supply now. Officials said Pammal and Anakaputhur are currently getting water from a quarry at Pammal, due to which Pallavaram gets a higher share of Palar water.
