Chennai: India were 190 for 6 in their second innings after lunch on the third day of the second cricket Test against England today. Virat Kohlis men have stretched their lead to 385 runs despite a less than impressive second essay. Ably helping Virat in the middle was Ashwin. Both scored unbeaten half centuries. visitors Jack Leach and Moeen Ali have registered figures of 3/63 and 2/46 respectively. Wicketkeeper Ben Foakes continued with his outstanding work effecting two impressive stumpings. India needs to win second Test against England to keep its hopes alive for ICC WTC final qualification. England is at the top of the ICC WTC points table while India slipped to 4th spot after losing the first Test of four-match series by 227 runs. The home side lost five wickets in the early stages of Day 3 with Cheteshwar Pujara Rohit Sharma Rishabh Pant Ajinkya Rahane and Axar Patel leaving for the pavilion. The hosts bowled out England for 134 in the first innings on Day 2 thanks to Ravichandran Ashwins five-wicket haul. The hosts will be aiming to add more runs to the scoreboard and set a huge target for England. Cheteshwar Pujara was a victim of poor fortune for the second time in the series during Indias second innings against England in the second Test in Chennai as he got run out in bizarre fashion on Day 3. Pujara came down the track to fend off a Moeen Ali delivery to Ollie Pope at short leg. Pope showed great reflexes to immediately grab the ball and throw it to wicketkeeper Ben Foakes who duly took off the bails. Pujara too was quick to turn after playing the shot to get back inside the crease but his bat got stuck in the pitch and fell out of his hand. Pujaras foot was inches above the ground when Foakes dislodged the bails meaning Pujara had to depart early in the day. Had the bat not gotten out of his hand however he would have comfortably been in. In the first match also played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium Pujara fell in the first innings to a freak dismissal when a pull shot hit the short leg fielder and looped up to midwicket for a catch. Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar lamented Pujaras poor fortune in the series while there were also some funny reactions to his wicket.
