Chennai: Amid increasing Covid cases in Tamilnadu health experts have urged the government to reduce the age limit for vaccination. “The government depending on the vaccine availability and the mortality trends should reduce the age limit” said a government doctor. On Wednesday Tamilnadu reported 7819 new cases – the highest one-day rise since the pandemic began. The new cases tally breached 6993 cases the State reported on 27 July 2020. Chennai reported 2564 cases in 24 hours.

At present the Covid-19 vaccination drive is focussed on those over 45. However coronavirus infection data indicates those younger are affected as much particularly in the second wave. On Wednesday Tamilnadu reported 7819 new cases – the highest one-day rise since the pandemic began. The new cases tally breached 6993 cases the State reported on 27 July 2020. After the discharge of 3464 people and deaths of 25 patients there were 54315 active cases in the State. Chennai reported 2564 cases in 24 hours.
