In view of Mental Health Awareness Month city-based Psychologist and EQ Coach Nivetha Raj shares a few ideas on mental health care practices to be followed during such times which can aide coping and recovery. Adequate focus on mental health care and engaging in ways to ease emotional stress plays a major role in recovery. In view of Mental Health Awareness Month city-based Psychologist and EQ Coach Nivetha Raj shares a few ideas on mental health care practices to be followed during such times which can aide coping and recovery. She says “Reside in a well-ventilated environment. Engage in virtual events/programmes that interest you. Limit your exposure to images and content related to the Covid-19 crisis. Make a quarantine routine for yourself.” She adds “Engage in your favourite pastimes like reading crafting playing an instrument writing music watching a series etc. Take frequent digital detoxes and unplug from social media. Keep yourself connected with friends and families through chats and video calls. Have conversations on topics outside of the Covid-19 crisis.” “Make a bucket list of things you would like to do post quarantine/lockdown. Express your feelings to a significant other or seek out to professional helplines and therapists” Nivetha Raj adds. It is important that we realise that we are fighting this together. As much as we focus on ensuring medical support and physical care is provided to those affected focusing on mental health comes a long way in recovery and in coping with the Covid-19 crisis she winds up.
