Chennai: A survey has observed that the percentage of girls with healthier BMI levels (45 per cent of girls have healthy BMI scores) is more when compared to only 40 per cent of boys. The survey by Sportz Village Foundation also revealed that children in public schools fared poorly in the parameters of upper body strength and abdominal strength. However the data also suggests that the public-school children are better in some aspects of fitness viz. endurance and flexibility – as they tend to be more active or mobile than their private school counterparts – as many of them come from the rural/ semi-rural parts of the country.
