Bail plea of Stayzilla’s co-promoter dismissed

The Principal Sessions Court in Chennai has dismissed the anticipatory bail application moved by Stayzilla’s co-promoter Sachit Singhi. On March 14, Mr. Vasupal was arrested and remanded to judicial custody while the second accused Mr. Singhi went absconding. Two days later, Mr. Singhi moved the Principal Sessions Court seeking anticipatory bail. On April 11, Mr. Vasupal secured bail from the Madras High Court after agreeing to deposit ?40 lakh. An FIR was registered against Yogendra Vasupal and Sachit Singhi for offences under sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (Cheating), 506 (i) (Criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

Aditya of Jigsaw Advertising and Solutions Private Ltd for allegedly defaulting on payments for services rendered. When the plea came up on Thursday, City Public Prosecutor M.L. Jegan, pointing out that Mr. Vasupal had deposited ?40 lakh as a condition for his bail, said, “Let the second accused deposit the remaining disputed amount and we have no objection in granting him bail.” As Mr. Singhi’s counsel submitted that they were not in a position to deposit the amount, the Principal Sessions Judge Nazeema Banu recorded the prosecution’s opposition and dismissed the application.
