Efforts to restore pond go in vain

The pond could cater to the water needs of residents of Mahalakshmi Nagar, Kubera Nagar, Sigamani Nagar, Enfield Avenue, Thanthai Periyar Nagar Extension, Lakshmi Nagar, Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Rajalakshmi Nagar,” says P. Saravana Kumar, a member of the forum.

Madipakkam Neer Nilai Punaramaippu Kuzhu of Sabari Green Foundation has made a representation to Greater Chennai Corporation seeking measures to arrest discharge of sewage into Naicker Kuttai, a pond at Mahalakshmi Nagar in Madipakkam, through stormwater drains. When contacted, an official of Zone 14 of Greater Chennai Corporation said steps would be taken to collect the sewage through a sewer suction truck and block the inlet system.
