Syndicate nominee appointed for Anna University VC search panel

The earlier search committee of Anna University was dissolved after former Chief Justice of India R.M. Anna University’s Syndicate has selected R. Gnanamoorthy, professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the IIT - Madras as its nominee for the Vice-Chancellor search panel. The Syndicate in its meeting also approved the extension of S. Ganesan as Registrar until a new Registrar is appointed. Lodha resigned as the chairman of the search panel following a litigation and allegations of violation of norms against the appointment of K. Ananthapadmanabhan to the committee. The tenure of the committee ended on October 14 as per the new norms laid down by the State government.

Mr. Gnanamoorthy was formerly the director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing - Kancheepuram. He was transferred back to his parent department at the IIT-M. The Syndicate in its meeting also approved the extension of S. Ganesan as Registrar until a new Registrar is appointed. Mr. Ganesan’s three-year term ends on November 25. The decision was necessitated since the university does not have a Vice-Chancellor. The earlier search committee of Anna University was dissolved after former Chief Justice of India R.M.
