Kin of murder case accused demand action against NIA

Coimbatore: The family members of the four accused in the murder of Hindu Munnani spokesperson C Sasikumar on Monday petitioned collector TN Hariharan, seeking action against the National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths, who had raided their houses on Sunday.Sumaiya, wife of Syed Abudhakir from Karumbukadai near Ukkadam, said that her husband was framed. “We are residing in a rented house. More than 50 police personnel were deployed in our area before NIA conducted the search. The search was conducted early in the morning, causing discomfort to my family. Now, our neighbours are demanding an explanation from us. Also, the NIA officers seized mobile phones that had the contact numbers of our relatives and doctors,” she said.S Nabeesha, mother of Zubair from GM Nagar near Ukkadam, said in her petition that her son was taken by CB-CID (SID) police on October 10, 2017 for inquiry and was arrested on October 12, 2017. “Police have registered a fake case against him. A petition for his conditional bail is pending before the Madras high court. Meanwhile, the case was transferred to NIA. A police team entered my house on Sunday around 4.39am. One of the NIA officers threatened that he will keep my son in prison forever. The early morning search has affected the family mentally. But, we are co-operating for the sake of the legal procedure,” the petition said.Ayisha, wife of Mubrak from KK Pudur in Saibaba Colony, told reporters that NIA conducted the search at a time when her husband had moved HC for conditional bail.Sadam Hussain’s father J Barakathuallah of Saibaba Colony also lodged a petition.Following Sunday’s raids, NIA had seized a motorcycle, three mobile phones and a few documents from the houses.Meanwhile, sources said that NIA may soon arrest two more people belonging to a Muslim outfit in connection with the case.
