“We are also looking to get inspectors posted to the traffic police stations in Thudiyalur and Mettupalayam to ensure better policing,” he added. With the inauguration of the Thadagam police station, there are now 35 police stations which fall under the ambit of the district police in five sub-divisions. The inauguration of the new police station at Thadagam represents the latest in a series of efforts by the district police aimed at more effectively preventing crime, ensuring law and order and more robust interstate border security. Speaking to The Hindu, District Superintendent of Police Pa. Moorthy said that the new police station, which was bifurcated from Thudiyalur police station limits, will ensure more vigilance over 34 small villages in the area. “There are plenty of brick kilns in the area as well, and there has been a huge influx of migrant labourers, whom we need to monitor.

more-in The inauguration of the new police station at Thadagam represents the latest in a series of efforts by the district police aimed at more effectively preventing crime, ensuring law and order and more robust interstate border security. Speaking to The Hindu, District Superintendent of Police Pa. Moorthy said that the new police station, which was bifurcated from Thudiyalur police station limits, will ensure more vigilance over 34 small villages in the area. “As a sizeable portion of the jurisdiction of the Thudiyalur police falls under the Coimbatore Corporation limits, manpower was being stretched to the limit to maintain a vigil around the entire jurisdiction,” he said, stating that the Thadagam police will now ensure better security along the border with Kerala, and also focus on preventing crime. “There are plenty of brick kilns in the area as well, and there has been a huge influx of migrant labourers, whom we need to monitor. The Thadagam police, which will be manned by 30 police personnel, will also be tasked with looking into complaints of bonded labour, which have also sporadically come up in the past,” Mr. Moorthy added. With the inauguration of the Thadagam police station, there are now 35 police stations which fall under the ambit of the district police in five sub-divisions. The SP said that with the bifurcation of Thadagam from Thudiyalur, and the setting up of Sultanpet police station in January, which reduced the jurisdiction limits of the Sulur police, Mettupalayam remains the only large jurisdiction which could be further bifurcated in the future. “We have sent proposals to set up two police stations in Sulur and Vadavalli, due to the need to prevent accidents and other issues along the stretch,” said Mr. Moorthy, stating that there was also a proposal for the setting up of an All Woman Police Station in Sulur. “We are also looking to get inspectors posted to the traffic police stations in Thudiyalur and Mettupalayam to ensure better policing,” he added.
