Commuters suffer as traffic chokes Nanjundapuram Road

Diversion of traffic to facilitate the construction of Ukkadam-Athupalam flyover has increased vehicle movement on Nanjundapuram Road flyover in the city. | Photo Credit: M_PeriasamyThe diversion of heavy vehicles to and fro Avinashi Road and Tiruchi Road for Ukkadam-Athupalam flyover works is choking Nanjundapuram Road due to heavy inflow of vehicles getting diverted. As per the current diversion plan, heavy vehicles from Tiruchi road and Avinashi road to Pollachi and Palakkad have to take Nanjundapuram Road to reach Podanur and take alternative routes. Similarly, all heavy vehicles from Palakkad Road to Avinashi Road and Tiruchi Road have been diverted via Podanur and Nanjundapuram to reach Ramanathapuram junction and further proceed to destinations. The problem is turning worse because of parking of vehicles on Nanjundapuram Road especially for 200 meters from the Ramanathapuram signal.
