  • | Monday | 23rd July, 2018

Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has condemned the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for opposing the no-confidence motion brought in by the Telugu Desam Party in the Lok Sabha. The State Government, on its part, should ensure that the agency acted in accordance with law and prevent avoidable tensions. At least now, the AIADMK government should ready itself to oppose the BJP government that was vindictive towards the State, Mr. Mubarak said. He sought the release of all life convicts who had completed 10 years imprisonment, irrespective of their religion, caste or other identities. The vote against the motion was against the wishes of the Tamils and the SDPI would like to point out that the MPs had missed an opportunity to be the voice of the people of the State and stand with them.

State president of the party V.M.S. Mohammad Mubarak told reporters here on Sunday that without taking into account that the BJP government at the Centre snatched Tamils’ rights and was unconcerned about the State’s welfare, the AIADMK MPs in the Lok Sabha had opposed the motion and voted in favour of the BJP government, which was condemnable. The vote against the motion was against the wishes of the Tamils and the SDPI would like to point out that the MPs had missed an opportunity to be the voice of the people of the State and stand with them. He sought the release of all life convicts who had completed 10 years imprisonment, irrespective of their religion, caste or other identities. On the arrest of a few Muslims for their alleged role in the murder of Hindu Munnani spokesperson Sasikumar, the SDPI leader said the National Investigation Agency was hunting down Muslim youths and trying to create a mirage that unfortunate incidents would befall Coimbatore. The agency should act as per law. The State Government, on its part, should ensure that the agency acted in accordance with law and prevent avoidable tensions.
