The employees of ration shops attached to the primary cooperative banks took out a rally from Women’s Polytechnic to the Collectorate here and submitted a 10-point charter of demands to the District Collector. Employees from Coimbatore, Tirupur, the Nilgiris, Karur, Dindigul and Theni took part in the rally. The Tamil Nadu State Primary Cooperative Bank All Employees Association has urged the government to end the ‘inspection raj’ in order to eliminate the demanding of bribe from lower level staff of ration shops. The demands include implementation of new scale of pay for salesmen, disbursal of salary directly to the employees, extension of retirement benefits including pension and filling of vacancies. K. Shanmugasundaram, district president of the association, led the rally.
