Absconding suspect nabbed 20 years after Coimbatore serial blasts

CHENNAI: Twenty years after a series of bomb blasts rocked the textile city of Coimbatore, a suspect was arrested by Tamil Nadu police The man, identified as Noohu, is from Kerala and is aged 44 years now. He will be remanded in custody after being produced before a court in city on Tuesday. He worked there at an office all these years before coming down to Kerala early this morning.Soon after he reached his native place, the special investigation division officials got a tip off and they apprehended him.The SID wing has brought the suspect from Kerala to Chennai for further questioning. Soon after the blast, he went underground and was said to be working in Qatar for about two decades, before returning to Kerala now.A special investigation division of the Tamil Nadu state intelligence secured him in connection with the serial bomb blast case reported in Coimbatore in 1998.Sources said he was tracked to a hideout in Kerala on Tuesday.Noohu had helped the bomb blast masterminds and suspects by providing accommodation soon after they executed the serial bomb blasts.Later, he absconded and settled in Qatar.
