more-in Dairy Development Minister K.T. Rajenthra Bhalaji on Monday said BJP national secretary H. Raja’s outburst against the judiciary and the police can’t be compared with the anti-BJP sloganeering by research scholar Lois Sofia. “I see Mr. Raja’s statement as an angry outburst, and he was able to make such a statement only because there is freedom of expression in the State,” Mr. Bhalaji told reporters in Coimbatore. He said the State government, on its part, would take action against the BJP leader. But Mr. Raja’s case can’t be compared with Ms. Sofia’s, because the government was of the opinion that what happened to BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan (in the aircraft where anti-BJP slogans were raised by Ms. Sofia) could happen to any other leader, he said. Mr. Bhalaji said the government would initiate legal action against Mr. Raja. The police had registered a case, and the Madras High Court was seized of the matter. The Minister said the government would also act against those who desecrated a Periyar statue in Chennai. “It is a barbaric act, and strict action will follow,” he said. To a query on the decision to assign the post of AIADMK organising secretary to Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar, the Minister said it was Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s prerogative, as he was also the co-coordinator of the party.
