Union minister to attend planters’ meet in Nilgiris

Coimbatore: Union commerce and industry minister Suresh P Prabhu will be the chief guest at the 125th annual conference of the United Planters Association of Southern India (UPASI) to be held at Coonoor in Nilgiris district on September 29.As a prelude to the conference, a one-and-half day meet titled ‘Winds of Change’ will be held from September 28, UPASI president T Jayaraman said in a release. “Coinciding with the conference, an exhibition, which will provide a platform to exhibit the technological and scientific advancements in the plantation sector, will be held,” he said.Olam Group Singapore and chairman of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development Co-Founder and CEO Sunny Verghese will be the guest of honour at the conference.
