COIMBATORE: Bharathiar University (BU) has called for applications to fill five vacant administrative posts. The move to fill the vacant posts of registrar, controller of examinations, dean of college development council, director of the school of distance education and public relations officer comes following a decision taken in this regard at the university’s syndicate meeting held in Chennai on October 3.The university has invited candidates to apply for the posts within November 8. University officials said after receiving all the applications, they would start scrutinizing them.The posts had been vacant for some time and they were held by people incharges. Last August, people who were holding the incharge posts of the public relations officer, controller of examination and director of research and development were shuffled and three new people were put in their places.Meanwhile, the university’s convocation is scheduled to be held in December, an official said. “We are awaiting the governor’s dates. We will finalise the convocation date after getting a final word from him,” the official said.The preliminary work to form a search panel to select a vice-chancellor for the university will begin next month, the official said. As per a new regulation, only people from outside the university could be appointed to the search committee and they would have to be selected by the syndicate and the university senate, the official said.
