14 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants arrested, Aadhaar cards seized

“We found that apart from possessing identity cards, which claim they were Bangladesh nationals, most of the arrested men were having Aadhaar cards. Tirupur: Police have arrested 14 Bangladesh nationals in the last two days for illegally staying in the city without possessing valid documents. But most of them had Aadhaar cards.It was the second time in the last two months that the police had arrested illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. On October 5, eight Bangladesh nationals were arrested. Saleem Kazi helped them get jobs in a knitwear unit at Atthimara Thottam,” said a senior police officer.

Tirupur: Police have arrested 14 Bangladesh nationals in the last two days for illegally staying in the city without possessing valid documents. But most of them had Aadhaar cards.It was the second time in the last two months that the police had arrested illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. On October 5, eight Bangladesh nationals were arrested. They also had obtained the cards.On Sunday, the 15 Velampalayam police arrested Shabush and Abdul Rashid, both from Dhaka in Bangladesh, for illegally staying without valid documents including passport and visa. Police booked and sent them in judicial custody.Based on the information given by them, more searches were conducted at Atthimara Thottam near Sirupooluvapatti. Police nabbed 12 Bangladesh nationals, who were working in a knitwear unit in Atthimara Thottam and staying in the unit’s hostel. They were identified as Mohamed Saleem Kazi, Fajlul Haq, Mohamed Robin Hussion, Ibrahim Kazi, Mohamed Liton, Mohamed Rony Shek, Muhamed Rasedul Haq, Bashar, Mugamed Mamun Biswas, Delowar Hussion, Mohamed Anwar Hussion and a 17-year-old boy.“The accused confessed that Mohammed Saleem Kazi, a resident of Rajbari district in Bangladesh, had helped them enter India through West Bengal. They travelled in illegal ferries to cross the rivers on the Indo-Bangladesh border. Saleem Kazi helped them get jobs in a knitwear unit at Atthimara Thottam,” said a senior police officer. “We found that apart from possessing identity cards, which claim they were Bangladesh nationals, most of the arrested men were having Aadhaar cards. We are yet to find who helped them to obtain the cards.”Following the arrest of eight Bangladesh nationals, police had arrested four Indians including Ramshisah Verma of Nawada district and Ravishankar Singh of Nalanda district, both from Bihar. Both of them were earlier part of an outsourcing agency that conducted enrolment for the Aadhaar drive. Police suspect they accessed the Aadhaar registration online platform of UIDAI and created hundreds of fake cards.
