COIMBATORE: Speeding cars have claimed the lives of four two-wheeler riders in as many incidents in rural parts of the city recently.In the first incident, R Nagan, 57, of Therampalayam near Karamadai, was knocked down from his bike by a speeding car on Mettupalayam-Annur road on Thursday. He was taken to the Mettupalayam government hospital, where he succumbed to his head injuries without responding to treatment. He was a daily wage labourer. The Karamadai police have registered a case against the car driver, Selvaraj.In a similar incident, a 38-year-old plumber was killed on L&T bypass road on Thursday. The deceased was identified as K Sivaraj, of Kavery Nagar at Pattanam . “He was riding a motorcycle on L&T bypass road when a speeding car suddenly over took him and stopped in front of him. Sivaraj lost control over the vehicle and hit the car from behind. He suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot,” an investigation officer said. The Sulur police have registered a case against the car driver.A 64-year-old private security guard, who was knocked down by a speeding car from his scooter on L&T bypass road near Venkittapuram Pirivu on Wednesday, also died on Thursday in a private hospital in the city. The deceased was identified as N Shanmugam, of Ondipduur. The Sulur police have registered a case and further investigation is on.In another incident, 61-year-old P Ramakrishnan, of Palayur near Thondamuthur in Pollachi, was killed after a speeding car rammed his moped on Udumalpet-Pollachi road on Thursday. Pollachi East police have registered a case against the car driver, M Sankarkumar, of Thadagam Road.
