Cancel order to transfer grade II teachers to anganwadi: Union

COIMBATORE: Requesting the state government to cancel the orders issued to transfer II grade teachers to work in anganwadi centers, members of the Joint Action Committee of Tamil Nadu Teachers Organization - Government Employees Organization (Jacto-Geo) staged a protest at the collectorate on Friday.“Transfer orders were issued to 122 II grade teachers in the district. “Even though the state government claims to have transferred only the excess second grade teachers in government schools, the transfer in a way is like demoting the teachers. None of them were allowed to conduct classes on Friday, even though the Kindergarten section at Anganwadi centres are inaugurated only on Monday,” said VM Michaelraj, state information and communication secretary of Tamil Nadu Post Graduate Teachers Association (TNGTA) and the district coordinator of JACTO-GEO. Many of them feel depressed. Also, those who are in the line of promotion, will not get it as they will be working under the social welfare department once they accept the transfer orders.”Transfer orders were issued to appoint teachers in 2,381 anganwadi centres functioning at government middle schools across the state.“We have been requesting the state government to appoint new permanent teachers under regular payscale and not to transfer the working teachers,” Michaelraj added.The members also condemned the government’s decision to close 3,500 noon-meal centres and merger of 3,500 government elementary schools with government high and higher secondary schools.
