One arrested for idol theft

Coimbatore: A 32-year-old man was arrested for stealing panchaloga idol from a temple near Papanaikenpalayam in the city on Wednesday. The incident came to light on Wednesday morning, when Pattatharasi Amman temple priest Karthik found the front gate lock was broken open. He alerted police, who came to the spot and found Panchaloka idol of Pattatharasi Amman weighing about 5kg, along with a gold mangal sutra, was missing. The Race course police identified the arrested as Dhandapani, of Ramapuram. With the help of the CCTV footage in the locality, police zeroed in on Dhandapani.

The incident came to light on Wednesday morning, when Pattatharasi Amman temple priest Karthik found the front gate lock was broken open. He alerted police, who came to the spot and found Panchaloka idol of Pattatharasi Amman weighing about 5kg, along with a gold mangal sutra, was missing. With the help of the CCTV footage in the locality, police zeroed in on Dhandapani. Later in the evening, police managed to arrest Dhandaani.
