"Houseowner T Palanisamy had left for Chennai along with his family last Friday. They returned on Monday morning to find the front door of the house broke opened and the parked car missing from the porch. Fingerprint experts visited the crime scene and lifted a few prints.A businessman's house at Jeeva Nagar on Vilankurichi Road was targeted, from where 17 sovereigns of gold ornaments and an LED television was stolen. Houseowner S Prabhakaran had gone to RS Puram along with his family on early Sunday morning. He returned home in the evening and found the front door of the house open. Peelamedu police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.In the third incident, burglars looted 12 sovereigns of gold ornaments from a house belonging to Nasar of Thiruvalar Nagar in Podanur. "Nasar, owner of a textile shop on Oppanakkara Street, had left the home with his family. He returned on Monday night and found the front door broken opened and 12 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 1.30 lakh missing. Podanur police have registered a case and further investigation is on.Though many burglaries were reported across the city recently, police have been unable to catch the culprits. Most of the burglaries were reported from the east sub-division (Singanallur, Peelamedu and Saravanampatti police limits). Police sources are blaming manpower shortage for the precarious situation.
