City hosp airlifts patient from Kottayam

Coimbatore: Ganga Hospital's air ambulance airlifted a patient with severe burns from Kottayam on Thursday morning. The patient, a 17-year-old who was a victim of violence on July 13, had suffered 80% burns. "The hospital made the air lift free of cost, as the NGO had requested them to admit the patient. "They wanted her to be shifted here as we have a skin bank and skin grafting facilities," he said. "She has suffered 80% burns after someone poured petrol over her and set her on fire.

The patient, a 17-year-old who was a victim of violence on July 13, had suffered 80% burns. The patient was flown from Kottayam to Coimbatore in 50 minutes, a journey that would take close to seven to eight hours by road.Speaking to the media, the hospital's chairman of the plastic surgery, hand and microsurgery department Dr S Raja Sabapathy said that they got a call from Chennai-based NGO, International Foundation for Crime Prevention and Victim Care (PCVC) about a girl who was a victim of violence on July 13. "They wanted her to be shifted here as we have a skin bank and skin grafting facilities," he said. "She has suffered 80% burns after someone poured petrol over her and set her on fire."The hospital made the air lift free of cost, as the NGO had requested them to admit the patient.
